We have been a proud supporter of the schools in our community for many years and look forward to creating an even stronger relationship with Next – Student Success. This new program allows us to offer financial education through the Biz Kid$ program, boot camps, career readiness through mentors and much more. A team of Pen Air educators will be in classrooms once a month to teach on different financial topics.
Biz Kid$™ is a national financial education initiative based on an Emmy Award-winning public television series about students, money and business. Using a clever blend of entertainment and education, each Biz Kid$ episode shows students how to make and manage money by introducing concepts of financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Biz Kid$ is available in most local middle and high schools in Baldwin, Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
Students will be able to experience real life situations in the future. This 2½ hour simulation appeals to students and gives them a taste of the real world – complete with occupation, salary, spouse, student loan debt, credit card debt and medical insurance payments. Students get an instant family and them move about the stations to purchase housing, transportation, food, clothing, household necessities, day care and other needs.
Financial boot camps are a great teaching tool for students to see real-life examples of everyday situations they will find themselves in once they join the real world. We go through financial topics such as creating a budget and saving for your future. We also touch on career readiness topics like perfecting your resume and how to prepare for the first day of a new job. Our boot camps can also be interactive involving a panel of experts to answer questions directly from the students. This offers a great opportunity to get professional advice straight from the source.
Resources for College Students
As a proud member of our community, we want to give back the students at our local colleges and universities. We do that by offering educational resources to Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida through financial bootcamps, executive mentorships programs and scholarships. Our boot camps are a great no-cost resource to teach the college students about budgeting for the future and how to obtain and build credit.
At Pen Air, we understand the value of a financially sound community and we hope through these efforts, we are a small piece of the progress.
