5 Charities Recognized By PenAir Employees

Each day throughout the week of April 19th-23rd, we surprised one PenAir employee who contributes to our #JeansForCommunerosity (J4C) payroll deduction program with $500 to donate to their favorite local non-profit organization. They were each presented with a blank $500 check to pay it forward to a local charity of choice. The five nonprofits selected were Truth for Youth, Baldwin Humane Society, Wildlife Sanctuary of NWFL, Escambia County Professional Firefighters Charity, and FavorHouse.

A social media contest was also held on PenAir’s Facebook page, allowing followers to comment a local nonprofit they would like to pay it forward to with $500. The winning organization that was randomly selected to receive $500 was SEEDS (Supporting Educational Excellence in Daphne Schools). J4C is an employee-driven fundraising effort to give back to those in need in the community. Each year, PenAir employees nominate local, nonprofit organizations to be voted on as recipients of this philanthropic program. Funds are raised through payroll deductions and J4C days. The funds raised by the employees are matched by PenAir and divided equally among the voted charities for the year. More than $340,000 has been given to date through J4C since 2013.

The 2021 J4C Charities who will each receive $5,000 are Autism Pensacola, Baldwin County Advocacy Center, Children’s Home Society, Council on Aging, Gulf Coast Kids House, Magic Moments, Pensacola Humane Society, Ronald McDonald House Charities of NWFL, The Lighthouse, and The Secret Place. By the end of 2021, more than $390,000 will be given to enhance lives in our community.
