Founded in 1981, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity (PHFH) is a non-profit, whose purpose is to improve communities through sustainable partnerships. Having built and renovated over 1,400 homes, Pensacola Habitat seeks to positively impact the community. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity offers unique financing opportunities to qualified applicants to provide affordable homeownership in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
“We love it when our community comes together to build affordably in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties”, says Crystal Scott, Vice President of Development and Communications for Pensacola Habitat for Humanity. “Pensacola Habitat for Humanity relies heavily on creative donations, such as these. Anytime we can get amazing organizations, like PenAir connected with our mission, it is a great day!”
PHFH impact also includes building the community through creating good neighbors, revitalizing neighborhoods, holding homeowner readiness courses, and giving a hand up—not a handout.
Available programs includes the Home Buyer Program offering a quality, energy-efficient home designed to reflect the local climate and culture; Community Development providing assistance programs for critical home repairs and other services that enhance quality of life; as well as HUD Housing Counseling services which are available to anyone who needs assistance managing their individual or family finances, balancing income and expenses, budgeting, managing debt, improving credit history, saving for future goals, and preparing to purchase a home.
“At PenAir, we enjoy partnering with likeminded organizations. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, like PenAir, brings people to together to help their communities and provide hope,” says Connie Hansler, Communerosity Committee Chair and Marketing Specialist for PenAir.
PenAir’s J4C program is an employee-driven fundraising effort, born from the dedication and passion for enhancing the lives of those in the communities where we live, work and serve. Each year, employees nominate and vote for like-minded local nonprofit organizations to champion over the course of a year. Selected charities receive a gift of $4,000, along with a commitment from the credit union’s 332 employees to serve the organization through volunteer opportunities supporting their missions. Funds are raised through payroll deductions, J4C days, and J4C t-shirt sales, then matched by PenAir.
Beyond the check, the J4C program was created as a way for the company to collectively serve our communities, which includes the gift of time. In that spirit, each PenAir employee receives 5 hours of paid time per month to volunteer during working hours with the organization of their choice.
