PenAir Fits Right In – September 2024 WrapUp
What’s PenAir been up to?
The start of September didn’t only signal the unofficial start of fall for PenAir; it also ushered in a new wave of community impact opportunities. Those opportunities would allow us to continue to deliver on the promise to enhance lives through respect, service and Communerosity®.
USS Richard M. McCool Jr. Commission
PenAir leadership and staff had the privilege to be a part of the activities leading up to—and including – the commissioning of the USS Richard M. McCool, Jr. (LPD 29) ship at Naval Air Station Pensacola.
PenAir joined other Pensacola businesses to provide a sponsorship that would fund a number of community events, including a meeting with the ship’s crew and sponsors, leading up to the commissioning ceremony on September 7.
POW/MIA Luncheon
Earlier in the week, PACU attended the 25th annual POW/MIA Luncheon, hosted by the Founding Forward Pensacola Chapter and the Pensacola Navy League. During the lunch, NAS Pensacola’s Supervisory Museum Curator, Dina Linn, shared her gratitude for being able to preserve and share the stories of our military and local service members through the National Naval Aviation Museum.
UWF Financial Boot camps
Each semester at the University of West Florida, the UWF Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business in partnership with the Maygarden Center for Financial Literacy, host a financial boot camp for students. PenAir is grateful to be apart of this effort and provided a high-level overview of investments – sharing information on setting financial goals and different investment types. Our own Carter Herman, a senior financial analyst, led the discussion with these future leaders and we’re excited to help them get a healthy financial foundation.
UWF Football
September isn’t just the start of fall – it’s also a new season for college football. The University of West Florida Argo football team is predicted to finish in the top half of their conference again this year. With six matchups scheduled for UWF’s PenAir field, PenAir is excited to cheer on head coach Kaleb Nobles, and the entire team, ahead of each home game. For the first home game of the season, on September 5, PenAir embraced the call for a WHITE OUT and joined in the excitement building up to the Argo’s first win of the season. PenAir team members from Commercial Lending interacted with UWF students, alumni and other fans in Argo Village for the tailgate event before the game. PenAir was back in Argo Village again Sept. 21 for Family Weekend, providing PenAir branded items to those stopping by our tent to learn about our credit union and the efforts we’re making in this community.
As the Argo’s play through their matchups, PenAir will continue to support the Argo team and be present in Argo Village ahead of each home game. Stop by and say hello before you head inside PenAir Field.
As the air continues to get a bit more *crisp* and the cooler temperatures try to tease us with a faux fall, PenAir is continuing to hold true to our mission of enhancing lives. With the start of October being tomorrow, we have more events and programs happening that we support. Make sure to follow us on our social media channels to see what PenAir is doing in the community and check out our events page to see how you can get involved too.
