It is the NCUSIF that insures and is backed with he full faith and credit of the U.S. government. The NCUSIF provides up to $250,000 in coverage for each single ownership account, in the event of a Credit Union failure. To learn more visit: mycreditunion.gov.
You are eligible to become a valued member of PenAir Credit Union if you have a current valid ID, you have a Social Security Number (SSN) and if you live, work, go to school or worship in 17 counties, from Mobile, Alabama to Tallahassee, Florida.

You only need three things:
- Your driver’s license
- Other acceptable forms of identification are things like government issued photo IDs, state IDs, or military IDs.
- Your complete physical and mailing address
- If your current address does not match your ID, we will need proof of your current address. (This can be a paystub, utility bill, tax bill, or vehicle registration.)
- $5 for your Savings Account
- Your new account can be funded with a debit or credit card.
You can open an account with us if you live, work, go to school or worship in 17 counties, from Mobile County, Alabama to Leon County, Florida.

As a Credit Union, we get all the bank holidays. We consider it an added benefit for our team. Here are the 2023 dates.

We are on a bi-weekly pay frequency with 26 pay periods. In the two months where there are 3 pay periods, no premiums are deducted from the third pay period.
First impressions are everything! So we try to make it a positive one. Here are some helpful suggestions we have for our team members:
- Take Pride in your appearance - "proper" grooming, minimal wrinkles (in your clothing), natural hair shades, light fragrances (being mindful of those around you suffering from allergies), etc.
- We do participate in "Corporate Wear" around here. It's a way to remain uniform without having a specific uniform. After all, we want you to still be you - just with a PenAir logo.
Charter Change
Over the next several months, you will start to see us making administrative changes to remove the word “federal” from our branding. This includes items like documents, stationery, communication pieces, statements, advertising, signage, and more.
No. It is important to note, that we will continue to be fully federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) which is managed by the NCUA and backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government.
Making this change allows us to remove barriers to membership, creating more ease and less friction to bank with PenAir! This means that anyone who lives, works, worships, or goes to school in the approved service area will be eligible to open an account.
Previously, for an individual to become a member, the person would need to qualify through one of our Select Employer Groups (SEG).

The move to a state charter is an investment in the future strength of our credit union. It is one that we expect will pay off in many ways – especially in the growth of our membership, and other financial performance metrics that allow us to keep loan rates low, pay higher rates on deposits, and expand the convenience and access of our services for all PenAir members.
Members will benefit in a number of ways. By making this change we’re able to pursue more growth opportunities across 17 counties ranging from Mobile County, AL to Leon & Wakulla Counties in Florida. This evolution allows us to maintain a strong financial position into the future, enabling us to better serve our members and diverse communities in a sustainable way. Growth for the credit union also means more resources available to improve our member’s experience.
Rebrand
No employees are being affected by the rebranding. The employees that you’ve grown accustomed to serving you will be here, ready to provide the same personalized service that you expect.
Yes - although you will be provided with a new Debit and/or Credit Card soon. Once you receive your new cards, you'll need to destroy your previous one and update any automotive payments with the new CVV and expiration date. You'll receive more information in the coming weeks on this.
