We want to make this as simple as possible. Here’s what’s coming:
1. Stay tuned for updates
You’ll hear from both Service 1 FCU and PenAir with important details about your account. You can read the announcement letter that all Service 1 FCU members were mailed and emailed recently.
2. Get ready for a smooth transition
We’ll provide all the tools and guidance you need.
The Broad Street branch will close on Wednesday, December 31 at noon through Friday, January 2 for the transition to PenAir Credit Union. On Monday, January 5 at 9:00 AM, the Broad Street branch will officially reopen as a PenAir Credit Union branch.
The official transition of the Mobile branch to PenAir Credit Union is planned for January 1, 2026. Until then, you’ll continue to access your Service 1 FCU accounts just as you always have. Communications will be sent to you in the coming weeks about the transition of your accounts to PenAir. You are, of course, able to open a membership with PenAir at anytime to begin taking advantage of PenAir’s High-Yield Checking, Digital Banking, and convenient branch and ATM locations.
Yes! The same friendly staff you know and trust will continue serving you at the Mobile branch.
No. For now, nothing is changing with your account access, cards, or services. We’ll let you know well in advance if any updates are needed.
You’ll gain access to more products and services, a larger network of branches and ATMs across the Gulf Coast, and enhanced digital banking tools.
No. Loans in good standing—with the exception of credit card loans—will automatically transfer to PenAir on December 31, 2025, and they will keep the same rate and term you have today. If you have savings, checking, credit cards, or other accounts, you simply need to join PenAir, and we’ll help you easily transfer your accounts so you can continue enjoying full access at the Mobile branch and all other PenAir locations.
All Service 1 FCU members who convert to PenAir will receive a new account number. You will be able to use this account number to set up PenAir Digital Banking and re-establish any payments.
We’re happy to have you as a member of both credit unions! For now, it’s business as usual – you can continue using your accounts as normal. As we get closer to the transfer date, we can walk you through combining your accounts.
You can join PenAir immediately and start using any PenAir branch right away. If you have a loan, you’ll also be able to manage it at any branch or through PenAir’s Digital Banking Services once your loan has fully transitioned over in the next few months.
Yes! Your deposits would still be federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). You can find more info and use the NCUA insurance calculator at www.mycreditunion.gov/estimator.
