PenAir Credit Union Supports National Superhero Day at Studer Family Children’s Hospital

PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 29, 2026) —Capes, courage, and community came together this week at Studer Family Children’s Hospital as patients, caregivers, and care teams were honored during National Superheroes Day, a nationally recognized celebration of resilience and hope. The event brought first responders, members of the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Marines, healthcare professionals, and local volunteers together with one purpose: to uplift children facing big battles and the professionals and families who walk alongside them every day.

Observed nationwide, National Superheroes Day is intended to celebrate courage, especially the quiet, everyday kind found within hospital walls. At Studer Family Children’s Hospital, that courage belongs not only to pediatric patients, but also to parents, nurses, physicians, and care teams whose compassion and dedication form the foundation of healing.

Throughout the day, costumed heroes rappelled down the side of the hospital, visited patient rooms, and spent time engaging children in creative activities designed to spark imagination and joy. For families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments, the celebration provided a welcome pause filled with encouragement, connection, and community support.

“Superheroes Day is about more than costumes,” said Dr. Jason Foland, President of Studer Family Children’s Hospital. “It’s a moment to acknowledge the strength our kids show every single day, and to recognize the families and care teams who stand beside them with compassion, expertise, and heart. These moments remind our patients that they are never alone.”

The event was made possible through collaboration between the hospital, Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation, and more than 20 community partners united around a shared commitment to pediatric care and family support. PenAir Credit Union is proud to have worked alongside the team at Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation to help bring the day together while keeping the focus squarely on the children and caregivers it was designed to honor.

“Partnerships like this reflect the very best of our community,” said Adrienne Maygarden, President of Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation. “Superheroes Day exists because organizations come together with a shared goal: to surround our kids and families with hope, encouragement, and tangible support. We’re grateful for partners who understand that sometimes simply showing up makes all the difference.”

For PenAir Credit Union, supporting Superheroes Day aligns with its long-standing commitment to community well-being and purpose-driven impact. By standing alongside organizations that serve children and families during their most vulnerable moments, PenAir continues to invest in initiatives that enhance lives beyond financial services.

“This day is about taking action in support of the strength we see here every day,” said Derrick Aguilar, Chief Experience Officer at PenAir Credit Union. “As we mark our 90th anniversary, we reflect on a history that is rooted in giving back, and we’re proud to stand with Studer Family Children’s Hospital in honoring the courage, resilience, and heart that fill this building every single day.”

As the celebration concluded, one message remained clear: while capes and costumes may fade, the power of community endures. For the children of Studer Family Children’s Hospital and those who care for them, that support is nothing short of heroic.
