A Credit Union Built Around People
For 90 years, PenAir Credit Union has helped people improve their financial well-being by providing trusted financial services, personal guidance, and a commitment to the communities we serve. Our purpose is simple: Enhancing Lives.
What began in 1936 as a small credit union serving military personnel has grown to serve communities across Florida, Alabama, and Virginia. While much has changed over the years, one thing has remained the same:
People come first.
Every decision we make is guided by what’s best for our members, employees, and communities.
More Than a Financial Institution
At PenAir, we believe a credit union should do more than provide accounts and loans. We believe in helping people buy their first homes, save for their futures, navigate life’s challenges, and achieve the goals that matter most to them. We believe in financial education. We believe in community involvement. And we believe relationships matter.
That’s why we’re proud that many of our members have trusted PenAir for generations.
Why PenAir and FMCU Are a Natural Fit
As we got to know Fort McClellan Credit Union throughout this process, one thing became clear: The values that have guided FMCU for decades are remarkably similar to our own.
Both organizations were built on the idea that financial institutions should put people ahead of profits. Both organizations have deep roots in their communities. Both take pride in personal service, financial responsibility, and doing what’s right for members.
Most importantly, both organizations understand that trust is earned through relationships. That’s why we believe this partnership is such a strong fit.
Leadership
We believe it’s important for members to know the people who will help guide the future of the combined credit union.

Lee Morgan will serve as president and CEO of the combined organization. During the integration period, Angela Smith, president and CEO of Fort McClellan Credit Union, will serve as President, Fort McClellan Division. In this role, she will help support the transition and continue representing the members, employees, and communities that have made FMCU successful for more than 70 years.
Since joining PenAir in 2021, Lee has led the credit union’s continued growth while remaining focused on the things that matter most: serving members, supporting employees, strengthening communities, and helping people improve their financial well-being.
Lee brings more than two decades of credit union leadership experience. Prior to joining PenAir, he served as president and CEO of both ValleyStar Credit Union and Southeastern Federal Credit Union. Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for community-focused banking and the credit union philosophy of putting people before profits.
Under Lee’s leadership, PenAir has continued investing in technology, employee development, financial education, community partnerships, and member service across the communities it serves.
Most importantly, Lee believes a credit union should be more than a place to conduct financial transactions. It should be a trusted partner that helps people achieve their goals and build stronger financial futures.
What Makes PenAir Different?
Because PenAir is a credit union, we are owned by the members we serve.
That means every decision we make is guided by what’s best for our members and communities rather than outside shareholders.
Our focus remains on:
- Providing exceptional member service
- Delivering competitive financial products
- Investing in technology and convenience
- Supporting local communities
- Helping members reach their financial goals
Community Commitment
Through financial education, volunteerism, sponsorships, scholarships, charitable giving, and community partnerships, PenAir reinvests in the places our members call home.
