We’re actively monitoring developments in Washington and we hope there is a resolution before paychecks are effected.  A federal shutdown can create real uncertainty. If your federal direct deposit to PenAir is paused or delayed, we’re here to help with immediate, practical support.

Members who (1) receive federal direct deposit payroll into a PenAir account and (2) provide documentation of furlough or pay interruption (e.g., furlough notice, written employer verification, or advisor verification of a missed/paused direct deposit). Additional qualifications apply.

  • Furlough Relief Loan*0% APR, up to 4 months, loan amounts up to $5,000. No prepayment penalty. First payment can begin up to 45 days after funding.
  • Flexible payment relief on existing PenAir loans – One‑month skip‑a‑payment/hardship option on qualifying loans (doesn’t count toward your normal annual deferments).
  • Free, confidential financial counseling – Meet one‑on‑one with a certified counselor to build a clear plan during the interruption and beyond.

Yes. The loan carries 0% APR for up to 4 months with amounts up to $5,000, subject to verification and membership eligibility. There’s no prepayment penalty, and your first payment can begin up to 45 days after funding.

Once eligibility is confirmed and required documentation is received, funds are typically disbursed within 1–2 business days.

We’ll ask for proof of furlough or pay interruption and confirmation that your federal direct deposit normally posts to your PenAir account. We’ll walk you through the details at your appointment.

Eligible members can request a one‑month skip‑a‑payment/hardship deferment on qualifying loans. This special relief doesn’t count toward your normal annual deferments.
