Silverhill Couple Wins PenAir Credit Union Financial Fitness Competition

June 5, 2025

Pensacola, Florida (June 2, 2025) – PenAir Credit Union (PenAir) announced the winners of its 2024-25 NOW Program, a seven-month competition designed to help participants boost savings and reduce debt. Pete and Carolyn DiPaolo, a retired couple from Silverhill, Ala., took first place and received a $10,000 cash prize.

“We realized there were things we didn’t know and learned a lot,” said Pete DiPaolo. “We became much more financially aware of what we needed to do and how to do it.”

The NOW Program is one of the many ways PenAir Credit Union brings its purpose of Enhancing Lives to life. By pairing participants with certified financial counselors, the program provides personalized coaching, encouragement, and the tools needed to build financial confidence. The DiPaolos joined two other families — the Randolph family of Loxley, Ala., and Essie Harrington of Pensacola, Fla.— and spent seven months working alongside their PenAir coaches to reduce debt, raise credit scores, and grow their savings.
With the support and guidance of their PenAir coach, J.M. Parker, the DiPaolos increased their savings by 500% by the end of the program.

The Randolphs and Essie Harrington didn’t walk away empty-handed. The second- and third-place teams received cash prizes of $5,000 and $2,500, respectively. But for each participant, the true reward went beyond the check. It was the transformation of their financial futures.

“The NOW program is a powerful example of what can happen when you combine knowledge, support, and heart,” said Lee Morgan, President and CEO of PenAir Credit Union. “At PenAir, we’re not here to simply offer bank accounts. We are here to walk alongside our members as they reach milestones, overcome challenges, and build brighter futures. That’s what Enhancing Lives is all about.”
